How To Care For Your Cloths

How To Care For Your Cloths

For the cloths that you use on a daily basis, (Kitchen cloth, enviro, body cloths, make-up remover), at the end of each day (When you are done using it for the day), I recommend dabbing on a drop of dish soap (NOT Dawn. There is something in Dawn that coats the fibers and makes the cloths stink.), scrubbing the cloth against itself, rinse, wring, and hang up to dry. This will release any oils that it picks up, and keep it from getting stinky! Trust me, if you don’t do this, they WILL get stinky! The oils collected over time inhibit the effectiveness of the silver. Essentially, the oils cover up the silver, not allowing it to work properly Ultimately to keep your cloths working at their best, use Norwex products to clean them with.

Ok, so the big question that I often get is “How do I clean these and take care of them?!” So I thought I would give you a quick tutorial on here to make it as easy as possible for you!

*You DO wash them. They are cleaning cloths. They NEED to be laundered!

*You DO launder them in your washing machine and dry them in your dryer!

Now, as far as everyday cleaning the cloths. Simply rinse out with hot water, wring out really well, and hang to dry. DONE! EASY! If you feel you have picked up a greasy spot, just scrub that spot with a little Norwex Dish Soap or Laundry Detergent, wash out, wring out, hang dry. Good to go.

There are three EASY rules I want you to follow to optimize your cloths’ performance over the years!

1. Do NOT use bleach
Bleach degrades the microfiber (and voids your warranty), plus, it’s just not good for you or our Earth.

2. Do NOT use fabric softener or dryer sheets when washing microfiber. The oils in such products decrease the microfiber’s cleaning ability, and may leave residue on future surfaces. (Have you checked out the dryer balls that Norwex offers?! You won’t need those fabric softeners anymore!!)

3. Machine wash Norwex microfiber with lint-free laundry (i.e. cotton sheets)- you want the cloths to continue to leave your windows, mirrors and other surfaces lint-free for many years to come! I personally love washing them with cotton bed sheets because we should always wash our sheets in HOT water anyway, and the hot water is also great for cleansing our cloths. Do this every couple of weeks (or more, depending on how much you use them!!) Be sure to use Norwex Laundry Detergent for the BEST results, but a dye free, fragrance-free, bleach free detergent will do.

Now, DEEP CLEANING. This should be done if you feel your cloths have stopped working at their finest. Sometimes oils cleaned up can coat the fibers. If another product that is not free and clear of harmful materials is used this can also coat the fibers and cause the cloths to repel water or causing it to stink due to the silver being inhibited from work it’s magic! For this the best results come from using our Norwex Microfiber Cleaner (that is also a laundry booster) and soak it in super hot water.  The amount will depend on the number of cloths you are soaking.  For just 2-3 you can use half a scoop to sink full of water. When the water begins to cool, scrub the cloth against itself. After soaking for at least 20 min you will find all the nasty, dirty, GUNK that has been released out of the fibers, dump that water right down the drain, rinse them in hot water, wring and hang or launder the cloths as normal and dry in the machine. The hot water causes the fibers to swell, releasing all the gunk that the fibers have captured (Which is what they are designed to do).

IF YOU DON’T have the Microfiber Cleaner, simply use the Norwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent.  You boil a pot of water, once boiling take it off the burner, add 2 tsp of detergent and your cloths.  Stir them around well with tongs.  Allow to sit for 45 min to an hour.  Once it begins to cool enough not to burn you, rinse them out with hot water, wring out and hang to dry. I use rubber gloves so I can use really hot water to rinse with.  The water will be BROWN because so much will come out!

See? BROWN. That is how much your Norwex Microfiber works for you!
