Is Norwex a Scam??? Is it a Pyramid Scheme???

Is Norwex a Scam??? Is it a Pyramid Scheme???

SO as you know, there are people EVERYWHERE who thrive on discounting everything and making others questions. Inevitably, there will be people who say Norwex doesn’t work, or it’s a scam…Keep in mind there aren’t many who do… What about those people? If you dig deeper you’ll find that those people don’t really understand the science behind how Norwex ACTUALLY works. (You can read more about that HERE and HERE. You can also see how to use it HERE.) People get confused by how the Baclock Technology works. They think the silver in the cloth is what cleans the surface. It’s actually the densely woven microfiber that physically REMOVES whatever may be on the surface, down to the size of protein leaving your surface SUPER CLEAN. After the physical removal, the silver ions in the cloth goes to work on what is trapped IN the cloth preventing it from growing mold mildew and bacteria. It self purifies!

My Favorite Demo Videos & Pics!

THE INFAMOUS CHICKEN DEMO! This is one of my MOST fun demos to do. It impresses ME every time I do it!! It has NEVER failed me. I’m certain I have done it somewhere around 300 times bc I have purchased more swabs than that and I have a few left. WOW!
Here I show the versatility of Norwex Cleaning Paste. I use it for a pot with burned on food, clean my stainless sink, and cleaning my oven after a baking disaster (that I must admit, was LONG overdue anyway, but I have children so do not judge me!)

This Black Light Demo shows what we cannot see on a surface that appears to be clean! I use to use products that gave me a false sense of security as I believed what I was doing was actually CLEANING my surface! NOPE. The first time I saw this demo, I was blown away! I’ll also give you a picture to show what a toilet looks like before cleaning it with
a Norwex Envirocloth. It’s SO extremely EWWW.
EEW right??
The Netted Dish Cloth is something I couldn’t live without! No more washing piles and piles of smelly dish rags anymore. This thing is amazing! But it does more than just dishes! Dead bugs on the front of your car? No problem for this guy, and it’s safe for your paint job! But it also can pick up raw egg off the floor after it slips out of your hand….OR your 8 year olds hand… A couple quick wipes and it’s up! Along with FLOUR. I made biscuits and had a mess on my hands. Norwex Netted Dish Cloth to the rescue!

How To Care For Your Cloths

How To Care For Your Cloths

For the cloths that you use on a daily basis, (Kitchen cloth, enviro, body cloths, make-up remover), at the end of each day (When you are done using it for the day), I recommend dabbing on a drop of dish soap (NOT Dawn. There is something in Dawn that coats the fibers and makes the cloths stink.), scrubbing the cloth against itself, rinse, wring, and hang up to dry. This will release any oils that it picks up, and keep it from getting stinky! Trust me, if you don’t do this, they WILL get stinky! The oils collected over time inhibit the effectiveness of the silver. Essentially, the oils cover up the silver, not allowing it to work properly Ultimately to keep your cloths working at their best, use Norwex products to clean them with.

Ok, so the big question that I often get is “How do I clean these and take care of them?!” So I thought I would give you a quick tutorial on here to make it as easy as possible for you!

*You DO wash them. They are cleaning cloths. They NEED to be laundered!

*You DO launder them in your washing machine and dry them in your dryer!

Now, as far as everyday cleaning the cloths. Simply rinse out with hot water, wring out really well, and hang to dry. DONE! EASY! If you feel you have picked up a greasy spot, just scrub that spot with a little Norwex Dish Soap or Laundry Detergent, wash out, wring out, hang dry. Good to go.

To see suggestions for products to use to clean your microfiber, click HERE.

There are three EASY rules I want you to follow to optimize your cloths’ performance over the years!

1. Do NOT use bleach
Bleach degrades the microfiber (and voids your warranty), plus, it’s just not good for you or our Earth.

2. Do NOT use fabric softener or dryer sheets when washing microfiber. The oils in such products decrease the microfiber’s cleaning ability, and may leave residue on future surfaces. (Have you checked out the dryer balls that Norwex offers?! You won’t need those fabric softeners anymore!!)

3. Machine wash Norwex microfiber with lint-free laundry (i.e. cotton sheets)- you want the cloths to continue to leave your windows, mirrors and other surfaces lint-free for many years to come! I personally love washing them with cotton bed sheets because we should always wash our sheets in HOT water anyway, and the hot water is also great for cleansing our cloths. Do this every couple of weeks (or more, depending on how much you use them!!) Be sure to use Norwex Laundry Detergent for the BEST results, but a dye free, fragrance-free, bleach free detergent will do.

Now, DEEP CLEANING. This should be done if you feel your cloths have stopped working at their finest. Sometimes oils cleaned up can coat the fibers. If another product that is not free and clear of harmful materials is used this can also coat the fibers and cause the cloths to repel water or causing it to stink due to the silver being inhibited from work it’s magic! For this the best results come from using our Norwex Microfiber Cleaner (that is also a laundry booster) and soak it in super hot water.  The amount will depend on the number of cloths you are soaking.  For just 2-3 you can use half a scoop to sink full of water. When the water begins to cool, scrub the cloth against itself. After soaking for at least 20 min you will find all the nasty, dirty, GUNK that has been released out of the fibers, dump that water right down the drain, rinse them in hot water, wring and hang or launder the cloths as normal and dry in the machine. The hot water causes the fibers to swell, releasing all the gunk that the fibers have captured (Which is what they are designed to do).

IF YOU DON’T have the Microfiber Cleaner, simply use the Norwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent.  You boil a pot of water, once boiling take it off the burner, add 2 tsp of detergent and your cloths.  Stir them around well with tongs.  Allow to sit for 45 min to an hour.  Once it begins to cool enough not to burn you, rinse them out with hot water, wring out and hang to dry. I use rubber gloves so I can use really hot water to rinse with.  The water will be BROWN because so much will come out!

See? BROWN. That is how much your Norwex Microfiber works for you!

How I USE to clean and WHY Norwex is Better!

How I USE to clean and WHY Norwex is Better!

I’ve been using antibacterial wipes since college and as long as I lived on my own before getting married and THEN, I continued to use them to clean our home! Along came my first child in 2007 and I was STILL using them. They made me sneeze and did quite a number on my ssssssinuses! (Who remembers Kaa the snake in The Jungle Book? 🙂 I was still using them when my second child was born. I also had to wear gloves when I used them because my skin was allergic to them. I cleaned this way until 2014. I THOUGHT I was doing a good job! I THOUGHT that I was actually thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting my surfaces and doing good for my family. Just like many other mamas out there. Then one day I need a product to clean my husbands funky work shirts. You see, he owed a pool business. Maintenance and repair. In the heat of the summer the amount of man funk on those shirts is beyond description. As I searched allllll the homemade options, all the pinterest recipes to get white WHITE, I kept coming across the name Norwex. Once I learned it was a direct sales company, I QUICKLY moved on, because they are all pyramid schemes and scams right?!? And I wanted NOTHNG to do with that and definitely nothing that was going to require an auto ship every month and charge me a fee to be able to purchase. THEN my friend invited me to a party. She said “I know this sounds lame but I’m having a party with a company that sells cleaning products and I really think you would like it.” I asked what it was and she said Norwex. Immediately I said, ok, I’ll do that! (Knowing that I wanted to try the Detergent!). I ended up purchasing the Household Package that is comprised of the Envirocloth, Window Cloth and Dust Mitt. And of COURSE I bought the Laundry detergent! I could’t wait for it to arrive. As soon as I got it, I ran about 3 inches of water in my stainless sink and put a couple teaspoons of detergent in and dump one of my husband’s work shirts in it. Within seconds the water began to turn brown! Keep in mind this was after I had tried every product and homemade concoction possible to get this clean to no avail. I was AMAAAAAAAAZED. While it was soaking, I began to clean my stainless refrigerator with the Envirocloth. At first I thought I had ruined the surface! It looked streaky! The product I use to use was a specific stainless appliance cleaner that only left the surface with a greasy film that certainly did NOT prevent fingerprints. I contacted the consultant that I purchased from and she suggested I put a little laundry detergent in a spray bottle with water, spray it on my Envirocloth and wipe the fridge down. What was happening is my Envirocloth with JUST water was removing LAYER upon LAYER upon LAYER of cleaning products that I had used for years prior. The laundry detergent did the trick! Ya’ll, I cleaned until about 1:30 AM. I was like “what can I clean next?? This is so much faster and easier!” It wasn’t long after that I chose to host my OWN party because my wish/WANT list was bigger than my budget! I learned that hosting a party was the best way to get lots of Norwex-y goodness for FREE. Before the party was over, I jumped in to be a Consultant!

Here are the pics of the man-shirt-funkiness as well as my fridge!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Right? No more expensive stainless cleaners needed!

What Should I Use To Clean My Microfiber?

What Should I Use To Clean My Microfiber?

See the color of that water? EEW right? I put all my cloths and mop pads and let them soak in hot water for about 45 minutes. This is what the Laundry Detergent pulled out! WOW!

Ultimately, the best and first answer is always the Norwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry detergent. It is the first answer because not only does it clean your microfiber, but it is also a multifunctional product. This is great in a spray bottle with water as a general cleaner for stains and other messes. It is fantastic on stainless steel appliances for removing the residue of other cleaners and making your appliances SHINE!

The next option is to use the Norwex Dish Soap. Just a drop will do. Thoroughly wet your cloth, put a drop of two of product in the middle of your cloth and scrub it all over as it suds up. Rinse and either hang to dry or put in the dryer.

Microfiber Cleaner Laundry Booster is fantastic for when you have a load of laundry that needs an extra boost, like whites, OR when you have Microfiber that needs more of a deep clean.

Another option is the Norwex Stain Remover. Use it the very same for a daily cleaning of your microfiber cloths after a long day of work as you would use the dish soap above!

The Magic of The Envirocloth and How To Use It!

The Magic of The Envirocloth and How To Use It!

OK.. So what is so magical about this cloth and how do you use it??? I mean, there is a very valid reason that HGTV calls this cloths a GAME CHANGER. In my post “What Is Norwex?”, I shared with you what microfiber is and how it works along with a little science lesson about Silver. Use it wet and it removes 99.9% (third party lab test results) of bacteria & germs, when properly used. What does that mean?

How to Properly Use The Envirocloth:

Run the Envirocloth under water and saturate completely.

Wring out as much excess water as possible.

Fold the cloth into 4ths. This gives you 8 clean sides to work with.

Clean your surfaces with the folded cloth held flat.

Flip to a clean side as needed. If you need to continue cleaning beyond any clean sides, simply rinse under warm water while rubbing the cloth against itself, wring it out and start over!

When the job is complete, you can rinse it again, add a drop of SOAP or LAUNDRY DETERGENT agitate the cloth against itself, wring out and hang to dry, ready for use the next day. If it is heavily soiled you can launder it with other microfiber or non flannel non linty sheets or workout cloths, and dry in the dryer. Easy Peasy!

What Is Norwex?

What Is Norwex?

If you haven’t taken a look at Norwex and aren’t sure what it is,
THIS post is for YOU!

Norwex is a line of cleaning and personal care products that improve your quality of life by helping radically reduce chemicals in your home. The Norwex “clean without chemicals” was birthed in Norway in 1994 and was introduced to the home party market in Norway in 1995. By spring of 1999 Norwex expanded to Canada and the United states. Now Norwex has achieved a milestone of exceeding 60,000 consultant worldwide. They have expanded all over the US. To think it all started with a little red cloth and a bug-covered windshield.

Have you ever heard the parable of the mustard seed in the Bible? It says “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field; which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.”
Sometimes the smallest things really do have the biggest impact!

How Microfiber Works; The Deep Dive!

…and why it’s FAR superior for cleaning compared to cotton or other fibers.  The open spaces in the fibers created by the splitting of the fibers, enable the cloth to lift away dust dirt and particles, leaving the surface clean.

Now this may get a little extra science-y, but stick with me as I explain how the picture above works. Cloths described as “microfiber” can vary widely in the size of the fibers they use and therefore their cleaning effectiveness. In average cloths, the fibers are 10-50 times thinner than a human hair- so each one is only about 3-5 micrometers (three to five microns) in diameter and about 50 times lighter than the fiber in a pair of ladies stockings (.3 denier compared to typical 15-denier nylon).  That’s smaller than pollen grains! (5-10 microns) Or smaller than red blood cells (10-30 microns), roughly the same size as “typical” bacteria) 1-5 microns is a good rule of thumb), but still bigger than most viruses. Since microfibers can’t effectively remove anything smaller than they are, it would be accurate to describe average microfiber cloths as “antibacterial” or “antimicrobial.”  KEEP IN MIND that the above information is in reference to average microfiber. In order for microfiber to get that title, it must be at least 1/6th the size of the width of a human hair.

HOWEVER Norwex boasts that the fibers are 1/200th (yes that is 200. Not a typo!) the width of a human hair, (around  0.33 microns) which would make them effective for removing 99.9% of bacteria and at least some viruses that are as small as the size of protein, which are smaller than viruses like the flu.

Chemical Cleaning

If you clean the traditional way, with soap and water, the molecules of the detergent you use stick to and break down the dirt and grime. When you rinse with a wet cloth, the water molecules glued to its fibers stick to the detergent and wash it away with the dirt still attached. This is old-fashioned cleaning with chemistry. Compared to a microfiber cloth, a normal cloth has relatively few fibers so it cleans in a hit-and-miss way. Dirt gets missed and detergent and water often get left behind on the surface you’re cleaning. A residue is left.

Mechanical Cleaning

The fibers attach themselves to each dirt speck with van van der Waals forces. Working as a team, many fibers apply powerful enough forces to dislodge the dirt (loosened with a small amount of water) and carry it away, leaving the surface naturally dirt-free. This is new-fangled cleaning with physics using nothing but the adhesive power of forces—cleaning mechanically and without chemicals. The dirt stays locked inside the cloth’s fibers until you wash it in hot water, which makes the fibers uncurl slightly and release their dirty content.

If you use a microfiber cloth, there’s no detergent involved whatsoever, so how is the dirt removed? Instead of detergent, we rely on millions more fibers that can sweep dirt away, mechanically and physically removing it from the surface… Leaving no residue whatsoever!

What Makes Norwex Microfiber Different?

Norwex Microfiber is 1/200th the size of a human hair and can hold up to seven times its weight in matter. As you wipe the surface, the microfibers attract and draw up even the smallest particles of dust, trapping them in the fibers. Norwex Microfibers lift and collect particles, versus the traditional cotton cloth that pushes particles around, thus spreading out dirt, grime and moisture into the crevices leaving them unclean. Norwex also has a unique feature of Micro Silver embedded in the cloth. When used wet, the Micro Silver in the cloth goes to work with self purification properties. Scroll down to see the graphic showing HOW this works! This is our Patented Baclock® Technology. Because of these amazing features, you can ditch your antibacterial wipes and remove 99.9% of bacteria, or anything else that may be lurking, from a surface when using the cloths properly. It physically and mechanically removes it rather than chemically while leaving behind a chemical residue. Norwex uses ONLY WATER to work magic!  And water does not leave a residue!

Check out the size of protein in this picture below!! TEENY TINY

This Shows How Silver Ions Inactivate Bacteria. So Science-y!

See that?? 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻 The Silver Ions create a total breakdown of life-supporting functions by inhibition of transmembrane transport. The Silver ions also inactivate intracellular enzymes. Too much science? Basically that means that the silver ionically alters the dna of the bacteria making it lethal to itself so that it cannot reproduce! That means it DIES. WHOA!

The Norwex Envirocloth packs a whole lot of incredible cleaning power in one cloth. It contains more than 3 million meters of microfiber. That means unraveled it could stretch from Canada all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico!
